WATER: Basic human right or commodity for profit?

Staggering, water is a basic element required by all. The future of humanity may or may not fight over this diminishing commodity but whats true now is that marketing people make millions packaging up water in fancy bottles and selling it? Now who is the looser? You do not have to buy it but the poor people of the world would if they could! They have to walk to wells to get potentially contaminated water, which takes time and effort well over and above the value you probably place on your bottled water!
Filtering water and providing water coolers in offices is a natural step in getting rid of bottled water, but you have to choose to buy it or not and more work needs to be done to provide accessible clean supplies in developing countries.

The situation can only get worse when it comes to water rights and distribution. We are made of water. We would die without water and water is a public commodity, not to be controlled,or hoarded by governments. We don't know how lucky we are right now, to have all that clean, drinkable water. I would be willing to pay more taxes, to keep water in the public control, as long as the tax increase was across the board and still related to personal usage. We waste SO MUCH,in the western world, because we take for granted what we have, as if it were an INFINITE supply.
I refuse to buy bottled water,on principle, while I am surrounded by palatable water from the tap!
If there are two countries bordering one naturally running river, each has an equal God-given, moral right to their share of the supply.I do not believe in 'oil for food' and the same for 'corporate' water. Public water, fair distribution, valuable public resource!
But in the future,as supply and demand compete, water must be carefully controlled and remain A PUBLIC right.A difficult task for anyone and it is OUR duty, right now,not to waste water and recycle what we DO use.
Remember,"water, water, everywhere, and not a drop to drink........"

When was the last time you saw 150 minutes on the global battle over water? Who should pay for water? Would you be willing to pay taxes to keep water in the public domain? Tell us what you think!
